ECG

Electrocardiography (ECG) is the assessment of the electrical activity of the heart muscle. Heart muscle contraction is coordinated by the electrical current which passes between the cells.

Abnormalities of the electrical system can be a result of abnormal heart muscle or part of a structural defect. Primary electrical problems can cause palpitations (awareness of the heart beat) or syncope (fainting or loss of consciousness).
